is the official website for the HIA-LI Annual Summer Food Drive to benefit
Long Island Cares, Inc. -The Harry Chapin Food Bank
The HIA-LI Summer Food Drive is the second largest food drive in the country; second only to the National Letter Carriers Food Drive. We collect an average of 70,000 pounds of food each year. Our on-going goal is to collect 100,000 pounds of food (which equals 83,000 meals) annually. These meals are distributed directly back into Long Island communities.
Long Island Cares is proud of its ability to stretch a dollar! The food bank's buying power is .83cents to every pound of food. That means a donation of $100 will allow LICares to purchase 136 pounds of food! Checks can be mailed to LICares 10 Davids Drive Hauppauge NY 11788 - ATTENTION HIA FOOD DRIVE
In addition to non-perishable food, you can also donate school supplies, personal care items, pet food, and baby products. Long Island Cares is responsible for distributing over 6 million pounds of most needed items, annually, to Nassau and Suffolk Counties only.
